The was a LWpro tutorial a long time ago. the effect of radial movement
within the sphere was done by squashing sheres (4 or 5) and offsetting
them 2 oclock, 4oclock, etc. An image seq. of striated marble with
velocity was applied as transp map.
I realize you are only doing a still, but i thought this might be helpful.
